Who is Getty?

Ever since I got on the internet, I've seen that Getty logo on all my favorite celebs, musicians, actors, and Footballers pictures. Back in high school, after the 2018 World Cup, I was hoping that someday, my pictures would also have that logo. Why? Cuz I thought that was the symbol of status, reserved for the 1% with mad skills and people who had achieved big things. And to top it off, even my favorite French soccer player, Mbappe had a pic with the Getty branding. I was dying to have it too, but who even is Getty? And why does everyone have their logo on their picture? In this blog post we will discuss all things getty.

Getty Images is a global stock photo agency that provides photographic and digital media content to businesses, individuals, and the media industry. The company was founded in 1995 by Mark Getty and Jonathan Klein and has since become one of the largest and most well-known providers of stock images, video, and music in the world.

Getty Images doesn't own all images, but they do own or represent the distribution rights for a vast collection of images, including historical archives, contemporary photojournalism, and iconic images that have appeared in news publications and magazines worldwide. They have acquired these images through partnerships with photographers, news agencies, and other content creators, as well as through purchasing other stock photo agencies.

Getty Images is successful because of their collaboration with different photographers, agencies and content creators. The use of digital tools has made it more easier for them to obtain and distribute images. Getty is not only for the 1% with mad skills but for anybody is newsworthy. Getty Images' target audience is anyone who requires visual content to better their projects or business whether it is the Shade room or Vogue.
